Akarua Wines and the team from Artisan share similar principles….put simply to deliver the best wine and food experience to our customers that we can.
Wine is made in the vineyard and Akarua’s belief is that our land plays an integral part in producing the premium Central Otago wines that we bring to market each year. Likewise Artisan views the ingredients as the key to delivering food that is their signature.
A passion for hand crafted cuisine that’s made from scratch is a philosophy that makes the Artisan kitchen tick, using some of New Zealand’s finest sustainable ingredients sourced in and around the four coasts of our South Island.
The food coming from our kitchen is honest, comforting and social with a focus on quality, taste and seasonality helped from Central Otago’s local growers. Our food matched carefully with the purity of Akarua wines combine to create a memorable dining experience.

Late lunch at Akarua Wines & Kitchen, Saturday, 3rd October. Attentive service, food arrived in a timely (yet never rushed) manner and every dish was superb!! Well done to Barry and the team in the kitchen and front of house with a special mention to Leah (she is a consummate professional). Super high end clients were blown away with the experience.

Just the best breakfast
What a perfect spot , just by Lake Hayes. We had the most beautiful breakfast, lovely service, wonderful surroundings, it really was just perfect. The food was divine , it really was something special!!! Thank you for a lovely experience

WOW!!! Stunning setting & equally stunning food & wine. One of the culinary highlights of our trip to Queenstown. The garden setting here is truely lovely with lots of greenery & options to sit in or outdoors to suit the weather. Absolutely lovely wait staff who looked after our every need. Fantastic selection of drinks, can recommend “The Garden” cocktail, Aroha Sparkling Rhubarb & pretty much any of the wines. Food wise between 3 we had the Lamb Oyster Shoulder which was melt in your mouth spectacular, the Baked Aubergine & Caulini Florrets with Purple Kumara. It was plenty of food for 3 & with another side could easily have fed 4. The jus & chutney’s that came with the lamb were sensational. I would highly recommend coming here for lunch or even wine tastings & snacks if you’re stuck for time or not after something substantial. Wonderful!
