AKARUA WINES & KITCHEN BY ARTISAN
Akarua Wines and the team from Artisan share similar principles….put simply to deliver the best wine and food experience to our customers that we can.
Wine is made in the vineyard and Akarua’s belief is that our land plays an integral part in producing the premium Central Otago wines that we bring to market each year. Likewise Artisan views the ingredients as the key to delivering food that is their signature.
A passion for hand crafted cuisine that’s made from scratch is a philosophy that makes the Artisan kitchen tick, using some of New Zealand’s finest sustainable ingredients sourced in and around the four coasts of our South Island.
The food coming from our kitchen is honest, comforting and social with a focus on quality, taste and seasonality helped from Central Otago’s local growers. Our food matched carefully with the purity of Akarua wines combine to create a memorable dining experience.
Enjoy the beautiful garden setting and the historic cottage which we have lovingly restored – whether it’s for a coffee and breakfast or for a shared lunch over wine with friends, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

What a place to celebrate
What a place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I could rave on about the food (it was special) but I prefer to mention the service. It was friendly and welcoming, we got great recommendations for food and wine.
When Jason found out it was or anniversary he presented us with a glass of bubbles each. A small gesture for him but you can have no idea how special it was for us.
We will return, and return, and return that’s for certain.
By the way we had the salmon with the twice cooked potatoes. OMG it was lovely.
Thanks guys for making our day do special.

Best service thanks to Eugene
We popped into Akarua at last minute without a booking hoping to have lunch. Eugene kindly found a table for us, lit up the fire and then we didn’t leave for about 2.5 hours. Eugene really made our experience at Akarua so special and he is the reason we stayed for so long. He gave us a personalised wine tasting at the table and kept our wine glasses topped up throughout lunch. He also performed a sabrage with our bubbles which was fun. Food and wine was fantastic of course but it was the service from Eugene that blew us away. We hope to return and see Eugene again soon!

Akarua wines and kitchen hits
Akarua wines and kitchen hits the mark with a delightful setting in a pretty garden. Tables under the trees while Inside Walnut cottage is all early settler charm. The food is sublime and has great flavours . We especially enjoyed the French toast with Black Doris plums and the charred broccoli with kale and watercress. Fabulous coffee with a good kick. Wait staff are bright and cheery.
